CSMU Project Preface

CSMU, our university characterized by sincerity, love, diligence, and a commitment to diverse and innovative teaching, as well as precise health research, boasts national examination passing rates in various medical professions that exceed the national average.

With outstanding alumni and high-quality students, the university is dedicated to the mission of promoting health and well-being (SDG3) in academic development. Taking inspiration from the revelations of the “Third World Higher Education Conference (WHEC2022)” regarding global threats (such as climate change, pandemics, wealth inequality) and trends in higher education (such as globalization, digital technology applications), we integrate the three major missions of knowledge production, education outreach, and social responsibility into our governance framework and academic development. This approach allows us to develop SDGs-related courses and activities, moving towards the vision of a green, energy-efficient, intelligent, friendly, and resilient campus.

This vision aligns with the National Development Council’s promotion of the “Six Core Strategic Industries,” particularly in the areas of information and digital technology excellence, cybersecurity, Taiwan’s precision health, green energy, and renewable energy. Additionally, it aligns with Taiwan’s sustainable development core goals, facilitating innovative practices to realize the vision of higher education in Taiwan.

According to the Ministry of Education, our school is contributing to the following four main goals:

  1. Innovation in Teaching and Learning

"Guiding schools to adjust their curriculum offerings towards enhancing students’ information technology proficiency, self-directed learning abilities, cross-disciplinary capabilities, problem-solving skills, international mobility, social engagement, and humanities knowledge."

  1. Enhancing Higher Education Accessibility

"Focusing on providing proactive and equitable educational opportunities and resources, guiding universities to implement education that promotes social mobility."

  1. Fulfilling Social Responsibilities

"Cultivating students’ social engagement abilities, making campuses and communities arenas for professional practice, ethical commitment, and caring participation. Strengthening students’ sense of social responsibility and establishing civic awareness, thereby becoming global citizens who demonstrate altruistic behavior."

  1. Industry-Academia Collaboration Integration

"Addressing our country’s six core strategic industries, including information and digital technology, outstanding cybersecurity, precision health in Taiwan, green and renewable energy, national defense and strategy, and civilian and military readiness. Deepening the mechanism of collaboration between academia and industry, emphasizing a “learning by doing” teaching philosophy, integrating real-world scenarios into teaching to assist students in synthesizing knowledge and skills acquired through the learning process. This, in turn, nurtures abilities such as problem-solving, systems thinking, and collaborative coordination."
